Most people pick a pedestal sink by photo. Then it arrives, and the rim sits two inches lower than expected, or the column crowds the doorway, or the bowl is so shallow that every handwash sprays the mirror.
This guide is the antidote: real numbers from our current in-stock range, plus the three measurements that decide whether a pedestal sink works in your room.
All figures below are taken from our live product pages (retrieved 2026-09-11). Where a value is not published on the product page, we say so rather than filling it in.
The three numbers that matter
1. Overall height (floor to rim). This is the number that decides comfort. Our range runs 33.5" to 35.0", with one deliberate outlier at 49.6".
2. Footprint (floor area the column occupies). This decides whether the room still works. Our range runs ≈1.35 to ≈2.25 sq ft — the difference between "fits in a hallway powder room" and "needs a real bathroom".
3. Basin interior depth. This decides splash. Our published depths run 4.3" to 6.7" (110 mm to 17 cm). Shallower looks sleeker; deeper splashes less.

How to choose a height
33.5"–34" is the safe default. Most of our range sits in this band. It matches the typical lavatory setting most adults find comfortable and what most North American rough-in plumbing is set up for.
35" reads as "hotel". Our Black Gold sits at 35.0". The extra inch is subtle in a photo and noticeable in person — more lobby, less cottage.
49.6" is a different animal. The Mushroom Bowl is a two-piece composition — a 15.75" bowl stacked on a 33.86" column — and the result is a bar-height statement piece that pairs with a ceiling-mounted pendant faucet. It is not the right choice where children need to reach the basin.
Do not mix heights in one room. A 33.5" and a 35" basin side by side reads as a mistake, not a feature. For a multi-bay commercial restroom, order all units from the same height band.
Our units are described by overall height measured to the top rim. If your drawing needs rim height specifically, that is the same number on our one-piece models.
Footprint: what actually fits a powder room
A powder room is usually the tightest room in the house, and the pedestal's job there is to disappear. Three things decide it:
- Column diameter under 16" (≈1.4 sq ft). Our Rough Texture at ≈1.35 sq ft and the 15.6"–15.7" square/round models are the safest bets. Browse compact powder room sinks →
- Leave walking clearance. The column occupies the centreline under the basin. Check door swing and the path from door to basin before committing — a 2.25 sq ft column in a 4' × 5' room changes how two people use the space.
- Rectangular columns behave differently. Our Chiseled Rock Smooth Rim is 20.5" × 16.5": it projects further front-to-back than a round column of similar area. Plan the tile layout around the actual rectangle.
Basin depth: the splash trade-off
| Depth | Feels like | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 4.3"–4.7" (110–120 mm) | Sleek, shallow, wide-looking rim | Powder rooms, guest baths, low-use spaces |
| 12 cm (4.7") | The everyday default | Main residential baths |
| 14 cm (5.5") | Noticeably deeper | Family baths, anyone who washes hair in the basin |
| 17 cm (6.7") | Deepest in our range | Heavy daily use, commercial restrooms |
If splash control is the priority, go deeper rather than wider — a deeper bowl contains the same handwash with less water on the mirror.
Rough-in and installation: the honest version
We publish basin dimensions because they are ours to publish. The plumbing rough-in behind the wall is not ours to dictate — it depends on your local code and your existing stack.
What we can say from our product pages: our basins ship without a faucet hole, with two exceptions — Pop Art Dice ships pre-drilled for a deck-mounted faucet, and Chiseled Rock V Texture has an integrated faucet deck. So plan for a wall-mounted, floor-mounted, or ceiling-mounted faucet depending on the model, and check the faucet line on each product page before you rough in.
The Textured Cylindrical model ships with free custom drilling for wall-drain or floor-drain, matched to the dimensions you send.
Everything else — supply height, waste height, blocking — should be confirmed against your local code and your licensed installer. Read the FAQ →
One limitation we won't paper over: accessibility
A full-column pedestal blocks the knee space beneath the basin. Accessibility standards generally require clear knee and toe clearance beneath a lavatory, which a full pedestal cannot provide.
We do not represent our full pedestal basins as ADA compliant. If the room must meet an accessible standard, specify a wall-hung basin instead. Make that call before rough-in — it is expensive to fix after the wall is closed.
A note for Asia-Pacific readers: ADA is a United States standard and does not apply in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia or the Philippines. Those markets use their own accessibility rules, so treat the clearance question as a local-code check rather than an ADA question — your architect or local authority is the source. Everything else in this guide (dimensions in centimetres, basin depth, rough-in) is market-neutral.
Material note: why these dimensions stay stable
Every model here is one-piece cast artificial stone (solid surface), not ceramic. That matters for dimensions in two ways:
- The basin and column are fused, so there is no joint that can shift out of level over time.
- The surface is repairable — light scratches sand out on site instead of becoming permanent, which is the single biggest practical difference from a glazed basin. Artificial stone vs ceramic: the full comparison →
Our product pages publish a water absorption figure of 0.1% (against a standard ceiling of 0.5%) and Barcol hardness 46 (against a standard minimum of 35) for the models that list test data. Full documentation is on our quality certifications page →.
FAQ
What is the standard pedestal sink height? Most of our range ships at 33.5"–35.0" overall height, measured floor to rim. One model (Mushroom Bowl) is a deliberately tall 49.6".
What size pedestal sink fits a small powder room? Look at footprint first. Our most compact is ≈1.35 sq ft (Rough Texture); most cylindrical models are ≈1.7 sq ft. Check door swing and walking clearance against the actual footprint, not just the basin width.
How deep should the basin be? 4.7" (12 cm) is the everyday default. If splash matters — kids, heavy use, commercial — step up to 14 cm or 17 cm.
Do your pedestal sinks come with a faucet hole? Generally no: plan for wall-mounted, floor-mounted, or ceiling-mounted. Two models differ (Pop Art Dice is pre-drilled for deck-mount; Chiseled Rock V Texture has an integrated deck). One model offers free custom drilling.
Are they ADA compliant? No. A full pedestal obstructs the required knee clearance. Use a wall-hung basin for accessible rooms.
Can I get a different size? Our catalog sizes are fixed; custom colour → is available on request, and size enquiries can go through the same form.
